Slot machine games are one of the most famous games to play at casinos. On any given night, expect most of the slot machines to be packed with eager players. The initial slot machine was created in Eighteen Ninety Five and was dubbed the "Liberty Bell." Invented by a California auto mechanic, the first slot machines had three spinning reels with diamonds, hearts, spades and a cracked Liberty Bell painted on each. Before this invention, the phrase "slot machines" was employed to describe various types of vending machines.

The initial widespread use of slots in American brick and mortar casinos is attributed to the Flamingo Hotel, Las Vegas in and around 1940. The head of the brick and mortar casino had originally thought the slot machines would be great to captivate bored wives of a few of the largest whales of the casino. Little did he know that the slots would be an exciting game for nearly everyone and that the allure would go beyond the the bored wives. At this time, it is said, slot machine games make up in excess of 2/3rds of all income generated by American brick and mortar casinos.

Slot machine games certainly have a full history. From the little invention of the late-19th century to the billion dollar industry of today, slots will continue to develop in prominence.
