Books have been said on this subject, and the debates and discourse about where the "hot" one armed bandits are installed in the casino are still rampant - sixty years after one armed bandits were 1st added to the gaming floor in gambling houses.

The standard rule is that the better slot machines were placed just inside the entrance of the casino; so that fun seekers walking by would be able to see jackpot winners and be impressed enough to come inside and play. Our assurance is that this is no longer the case.

Just about all of the mega casinos these days are super-colossal complexes and now you can't see inside from the sidewalk, so there's no longer a reason to situate the 'loose' one armed bandits close to any exits.
